Have I professed my love for long weekends here? Because I really love them. I think I would be a much more productive person in general if every weekend was three days.
I kicked off the long weekend Friday night with a book club meeting – my first ever. It was a lot of fun – pretty much girls night with some reading thrown in. We read The Fault In Our Stars by John Green – totally fantastic. We decided on Cinderella Ate My Daughter by Peggy Orenstein, for next month which looks really interesting.
Saturday, we hosted our annual Valentine’s dinner. A bunch of my high school buddies and their boyfriends/fiancés came over for dinner, catching up and Apples to Apples. It’s something we’ve done since high school and the tradition is my favorite part of Valentine’s Day… or, all of February really.
Sunday and today were much the same. We have a one-week trial of the YMCA so both mornings we went over there. Mark gave me a crash course in using all the circuit machines – oh man am I sore tonight! – and then we spent some time in the cardio room. Although I’m completely intimidated by gyms in general, I’m really determined to make this work. I’m hoping to work up the courage to try out the pool and some of the classes they offer.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing – some shopping, some reading, some napping. Oh, how I love long weekends.
