This morning, I wrote my 25,00th word. I’m officially at the halfway mark for NaNoWriMo.
I’m thrilled.
And see that cool widget thing to the left? It’s officially showing my word count so you can come back here anytime and see how I’m doing.
I think I’m loving my story more than when I started, too. It’s morphed, slightly, into more of a love story. I think it was supposed to be a love story all along but I was fighting it. Now that I’m rolling with it, things are fabulous.
I’m on a 2,000-words-a-day pace that’s been working well. I’m roughly 5,000 words ahead of minimum pace right now. At this rate, I’ll finish about a week early – which is perfect because I should be writing my 50,000th word the day before Thanksgiving.
In other news, Mark and I went bowling last night – our first time in probably two years. I bowled a 138 and totally kicked his butt.
It must be the weekend of accomplishments!

Ah so cool! I'm so impressed!! Also, I think you should name a minor character after me ha, no wait don't, if she was a terrible person or something you'd give me a complex.
ReplyDeletePS: Where was the bowling alley and was it any good? Just for future reference...
AWESOME score!
ReplyDeleteSo is there a website I can go to in order to read said stories? Or is it more for private personal pleasure writing? I'm thinking about writing one of my own, although I don't like I can set myself a time limit. lol
Kristen - We went to Tenpin Lanes in Manville. It was pretty old and run down but it was cheap. I'd go there again, but I don't think I'd take company there.
ReplyDeleteWe had stopped in the at the AMF Lanes in Green Brook on 22 also. That one was really nice and updated, but they told us they didn't have open bowling until after 9:30 and we had no plans to wait around there.
Rachael - There isn't a central website where the stories are posted. Everyone sort of does their own thing with their NaNo drafts. Some people post them on blog or elsewhere, some people self publish and some get book deals.
ReplyDeleteThey list published wrimos here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/publishedwrimos Some great books started as NaNo drafts, like Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. It's good motivation for "maybe, someday".
