Want to do some good today?

I think the whole Pepsi Refresh Project is pretty fantastic - I love the idea of giving people a vested interest in where the charity money is going. I've been enjoying going through the new causes each month and voting for those that I believe in.

This month, I have a very vested interest. The husband of one of my college friends is in the running for some of their grant money.

John is a music teacher hear in NJ. NJ's school budgets got completely slammed this year - nearly every district has had to face really heartbreaking cuts. John's district has lost programs, teachers and their kids now pay for basics like playing on a sports team or taking the bus.

John's going for a grant so he can create a piano lab in his school. As someone who practically lived in the music room during high school, I can't tell you enough how much of a difference this would make to the school. You can hear the pitch in his own words here:
